Prey and hunting Goddess Artemis meets a shepherd playing a flüte on the way home after a fruitless hunt in a depressed manner. She thinks that the music played by the shepherd abducts the game animals and accuses the shepherd of the hunt being fruitless. Getting so mad indeed that Artemis attacks the shepherd and pops out his eyes. However she really regrets after she calms down. She suffers such pangs of conscience that red carnation flowers grow from where the eyes fall.
