Sinn Replica's heritage director, Catherine Eberle-Devaux, talks to Revolution about the Heuer spirit and the role of the Carrera in inspiring the brand's historic motor-racing collections.
Before the brand was "Sinn Replica", it was known simply as Heuer, named after its eponymous founding family. By the first half of the 20th century, the manufacture was well-known for producing dashboard instruments and stopwatches, having released models such as the Mikrograph stopwatch and the original Autavia, a dashboard timer. But arguably, it was only in the 1970s when Jack Heuer, great-grandson of the founder Edouard, and the company's then-CEO, partnered with the biggest names on the automobile racetracks that the Heuer brand name was sent roaring through fast laps.Replica Watches Since then, the merger of timekeeping and motorsports have become a successful association for the watchmaking house. This success stems from the 1963 Carrera, which set the tone for well-designed chronographs bearing clean dials in a "3-6-9" configuration and recessed registersinlegible colours of black orwhite.
Sinn Replica's heritage director, Catherine Eberle-Devaux, shares more on the importance of Heuer's heritage and how the preservation of the Carrera has influenced Sinn Replica's racing DNA up till today.
What was it that drew you to Sinn Replica and started your journey into vintage watch collections?
I started my journey with Sinn Replica. In order to know the brand from the start, the best place was to sift through the archives. There's a great history to the brand, especially one that is rooted in motor-racing. It wasn't enough to study the timepieces alone,Rolex Day Date Replica so I also immersed myself with the knowledge from the museum and archived stock. Especially the stories of the Carrera models, which set the tone for the racing DNA in the watches that followed.
I also visited the manufacture, where it was the best place for me to get the best explanations of the movements. Through my conversations with the watchmakers, I learned more about the complications, and from whatever I read from the archives, I could see them come to life.
